Aerosphere is a free-form design
sparked by my love of the daily
photo posts by NASA on Twitter.

In this piece, I played with the
colors of earth, sky and fire, and
with the circular forms of orbs,
spheres and cylinders. The
angular conveyor belt form in
the center is reminiscent of
humanity's ascent into space.

The background is pieced
cotton fabrics with free-motion
top-stitching in a variety of
styles. The black and white
orbs are ringed with
3-dimensional silver silk ribbon.
The "wormhole" is a variegated
rayon yarn forced into a spiral
with enamel coating.

Embellished with cashmere and
rayon yarns, acrylic beading,
and layered sandstone tiles.

Traditional binding as a
wall-hanging art quilt, with a
sewn in hanging sleeve on the
back for a decorative rod.
