| About this Artwork:. Wengen, Switzerland is my favorite place to ski in the world. This piece is based on a photo I took at Kleine Scheidegg. A St. Bernard was actually toting a little barrel on his collar like in cartoons. The snow and trees are raw silk in white, cream and greens. The hut is flannel with marbled and batik cotton accents. The dog is a white cotton print with free-motion embroidered two-tone brown coloration. The sky is a cotton print with glittery silver specs that capture subtle flashes of light like snow flurries in the late afternoon sun. An extra layer of batting in the construction gives the forms added 3-dimensional texture. The border is the sky blue cotton, and white and cream raw silks. Gallery wrapped around a stretched canvas frame, wired for hanging. |
