About Eco-Friendly Mixed Media and Textiles:

Cotton uses approximately 25% of the world's insecticides and over 10% of the pesticides, herbicides,
and defoliants. Cotton ranks 2nd behind corn in total amount of pesticides sprayed.
Over 2.03 billion pounds of synthetic fertilizers were applied to conventional cotton crops in 2000,
making it the 4th most heavily fertilized crop behind corn, winter wheat, and soybeans.

It's a difficult process researching and sourcing materials such as fabrics, threads & fibers,
adhesives, paints, metals, and other embellishment supplies that are grown, created, and processed in
environmentally sensitive and humane ways. I work hard to find ecologically sustainable materials, as
well as giving preference to Fair Trade products.
