| Microexpression |
| About this Artwork: Inspired by the work by Paul Ekman on microexpressions and their clues to human behavior, I decided to try capturing candid expressions photographically, and isolating the elements of microexpression into textile art. The face is created from raw silk in cream, ecru, yellow, gold, tan, brown, black and copper. The eyeglass frame and glass reflections are in cotton prints (both organic and traditional) and hand-dyed fabrics. The background is a contemporary black and white cotton print. The borders are raw silk, gallery wrapped around a stretched canvas frame, wired for hanging. This piece was featured in the Slater Memorial Museum, Norwich, CT, 2010 |
