| About this Artwork: My favorite part of the summer is laying out in an open field mid-August to watch the Perseid meteor shower (protected from the mosquitoes by quilts, of course!) This fun sculpture is anchored by an amazing quartz and mica stone that I collected from Ruggles Mine in Grafton, NH. I drilled into the rock to insert reclaimed wire with eco-friendly adhesive. The base of the stone has a wool felt pad, to protect furniture or pedestals. The trailing particles are miniature 1" (2.5 cm) temari balls which I handcrafted from Samp'a organic cotton yarns and organic cotton threads, hand-stitched in intricate star patterns. |
