| About this Artwork: Pileated Woodpecker is a fabric art collage, designed from a woodpecker I photographed during a hike on Mt. Monadnock in NH. The woodpecker is dark navy blue raw silk, red faux leather, and cotton prints and hand-dyed fabrics. The background is cotton print and hand-dyed fabrics, created using a fused applique method, then satin stitched and free-motion top-stitched with cotton embroidery thread. The border is a brown raw silk, gallery wrapped on a stretched canvas frame, wired for hanging. |
