.REM Sleep is a collage art quilt, embellished with assorted fibers and beadwork The woman is
created in raw silks in cream, yellow, gold and copper. Based on a sketch I did years ago in art
class, inspired by Salvador Dali's "Dream Caused by the Flight of a Bee around a Pomegranate."

The background is a combination of pieced raw silk in navy, slate, robin's egg blue and ice blue at
the top, with pieced faux leather in mottled grey, crimson and copper.The moon is a spiral of
polished shell beads. She lies on a bed of polished stone beads of jasper, agate, and tiger's eye.
Fabric discs are fused to the sky. The black and white orbs are 3-d pillows of cotton fabric stuffed
with batting. Four different styles of silk and thread ribbons embellish the sky and moonlight. The
border is navy blue raw silk, gallery wrapped on stretched canvas, wired for hanging.
