| About this Artwork: Silent Rave is a unique mixed media piece created from fabric and cork. I sketched the abstract figures loosely based on the abstract figure styles of Matisse, then cut them from 1/8" cork boards. The cork figures are heavily coated with an eco-friendly adhesive caulking on the backs, to give them durability. They are raised 1/2" from the background using ash wood blocks. The background pattern is a fun play on the Van deGraf design model and Golden Proportion. The fabrics are beautifully vibrant Fair Trade Aboriginal prints that appropriately support the design livelihoods of the women who created them, combined with organic cottons. Batting is organic cotton. Mounted on a stretched canvas frame, wired for hanging. |
