| About this Artwork: Wall Street is a complex art quilt combining photo collage and fabric applique of pictures taken in Manhattan and Greece, depicting our recent (and current) economic collapse, and the Occupy Wall Street movement questioning the past and future of our economic policy. I manipulated my photos in Photoshop, adding artistic effects to the cityscape, then had the artwork printed onto cotton fabric. I used fused applique to enhance the collage further with patterned fabrics, then intricately thread-painted with cotton and rayon embroidery threads. The border is satin in a patterned deep blue. Batting is organic cotton. Mounted on a stretched canvas frame, wired for hanging. |
