| About this Artwork: Winter Forest is a fabric art collage, designed from a photo I took on a ski trip to Vail, CO. After a nice night of fresh powder. The sky was brightening as the clouds cleared off. I used a fused applique method with cotton fabrics, satin stitched with variegated color embroidery threads, then thread-painted with cotton and rayon embroidery threads. The border is raw silk in a pale icy blue, with extra batting and tucking to create a puffy and textured sense of fresh drifts. Batting is organic cotton. Mounted on a stretched canvas frame, wired for hanging. |
